Kahler ⋅ Payne is owned by sisters, Sandra Kahler and Sylvia Payne. The shop's site was originally built as McCormick's corner grocery store. In the early 1960s, it became a neighborhood beauty shop. Sandra and Sylvia purchased the building in 1989 and opened as Potential Treasures Antiques. In the spring of 2008, the name was changed to Kahler ⋅ Payne Antiques.
We have a pretty casual attitude towards antiques at Kahler ⋅ Payne. We view buying antiques as simply recycling — "elegant recycling" we like to call it. Rather than pieces of history to be preserved and pampered, we see antiques as furnishings from another time that need a new home and often times a fresh purpose. Items that can be used everyday to add a bit of charm, or elegance, or just fun to any home.
All of our things are cleaned, repaired, or refinished if necessary to make them ready to take and use.
We encourage customers to use their beautiful old china or sterling everyday. We look for fresh ways to use out–moded pieces so that they can again be used everyday.
We welcome and appreciate each customer who visits our shop — whether you're furnishing an entire room, needing that one particular item, or just out and about browsing.
